Live save spinning beach balls

PostMon Sep 06, 2021 9:46 am

For the second time I have in a specific project this live save bug where whenever I change something (make a cut, set an inpoint, open now clip in viewer, move a clip in the timeline, etc) I get a spinning beachball for a second or two. When I open an other project this does not happen, it's just this one project. When disabling live save the problem disappears, reenable and the problem is back.
Now as far as I can tell this started to happen after I deleted a timeline (possibly the only timeline in the project at that moment, not sure), so it might have something to do with that, but it might be a coincidence. It's the only out of the ordinary thing I can come up with that might trigger this behaviour. The behaviour persists after restart of Resolve and after restart of the computer. The save location is on a fast ssd (1000mb/s +) and it's just this one project for now.

Can u try exporting a drp, then import that and see if the issue is there.
Also, try copying the timeline to a new project using dynamic project switching

Thanks, I will!
Strangely enough the problem does seem to resolve it self after some time (over a couple of day's, but I'm not sure how much project time, probably just a couple of hours working in the project enduring the delay's).
I fully expect exporting a drp and importing it will solve the problem.
I will try that if it ever happens again!
Thanks again!

I had the same problem when the project had the exact same name with some other complex project on the database. Make sure that your project name is unique.

Exporting as .drp and re-importing has solved my spinning beach balls problem.

It would be great a "Optimize Database" option on the project manager to quickly solve beachballs problems.

I have this issue a lot where the project becomes completely unusable after deleting a timeline. Any edit, scene change, or color change hangs with a spinning beachball.

The workaround has been to save the project under a new name and the issue is resolved instantly. Super annoying.

Exactly, today I'm experiencing the same issue after deleting some timelines.
It clearly seems that deleting timelines is the cause of the annoying beachballs.
