Confused about "Color Space Aware" HDR Palette

I'm hoping someone can clarify why I'm seeing the following in v17.3.1:

I'm using Davinci YRGB(non-color managed)
I have "Color Space Aware" checked in preferences.
My timeline color space/gamma is set to Davinci Wide Gamut/Davinci Intermediate in preferences.
Working in the Color Page, I select the 3 dots(...) on the top right of the HDR palette. Then, thinking the settings are redundant with the color space aware in preferences, I see that "Use Timeline" is the default in the 3 dot dropdown menu. Therefore, I should see no change when I specifically select Davinci Wide Gamut/Davinci Intermediate in the 3 dot menu dropdown. Yet, when I manually select this, I see a change in the Zone histogram. Why does this happen?

To my knowledge "color space aware" is only available in DaVinci Color Managed YRGB or Aces, not in DaVinci YRGB.
But maybe it's new in 17.3. I'm on 17.2
If it's not there in 17.3 then that could be the answer to your question.
