More flexibility with Output Resolutions

PostFri Sep 17, 2021 1:17 pm

I think its time now to remove some of the restrictions of video resolution for output.

I have to create some videos for shelf edge display and the video resolution is 1920 x 87. Davinci Resolution will only allow 256 as the smallest resolution in any one direction so I'm limited to 1920 x 256 output. There are so many devices with video capabilities now that do not use standard video output formats.

Not that 256 is a standard video format.... can you let me know what displays 1920 x 87 ?

I 'd assume the supported format depends on the media player thats driving it ... heres a link to a shelf display panel (1920 x158) that specifies an Android based media player that supports: Video (MPEG-2, GOOGLE VP8, H.263, MOTION JPEG), Audio (MPEG Audio, WAV Audio, OGG Audio, FLAC Audio, MIDI Audio), Image (JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG)

Let's have a return to the glory days, when press releases for new versions included text like "...with over 300 new features and improvements that professional editors and colorists have asked for."

As 87 is an odd number, what happens to the player if you send 1920x88?

Is there any way to get resolutions below 256px? I'm trying to create some animated ad banners that need to be less than 256px (eg. 1160x105px).
