New MacBook Pro fully spec'ed out won't load Davinci

PostFri Sep 17, 2021 3:42 pm

Hi all! I've read around a lot today regarding this issue. I purchased a macbook pro for on the go editing (nearly almost 10k in expenses) and Davinci Resolve gets stuck AGAIN on "Loading Waveform Monitor"

My system specs are as follows:

MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)
Processor: 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
Memory: 64 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
Graphics: AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB

Is this not suitable for this software? :/

Do you have any external devices connected? Some Bluetooth devices have been known to cause issues in Resolve, like Bluetooth headphones.

I have this exact same laptop. Same specs. I use Resolve on it everyday. Never had an issue. I find it very powerful and have no complaints.

You have probably tried this but uninstall and start over? Also, I'm on OSX 10.15.7 and Resolve Version 17.2.1 Build 12.

Which OS? Which specific version of Resolve?

I know the BMD engineers absolutely will use the latest-and-greatest hardware and make sure everything installs and runs OK.

I'm planning to get the 2021 16" Mac Pro when it comes out in a couple of months, but I only use that as a conform/editing machine, not for color, rendering, or anything really demanding. No doubt the new hardware will only run on the latest Big Sur: I'm running OSX 11.6 on my 2019 Mac Pro at the moment, and there's no issues.
