Stuck on start (on a second monitor)

PostSat Sep 18, 2021 7:39 pm

I moved DaVinci Resolve on a second monitor, so when it restarts it tries to start on that one.
But it remains stuck there, whatever I start with (Untitled project, New project, or an existing one). I cannot find a settings file, or a way to move it back to the primary monitor.
I already uninstalled and reinstalled, with no luck. I wouldn't like to make a total clean, I would like to keep my existing projects.
I'm using the Windows version.
Thank you in advance to anybody that can help...

Try Workspace menu, UI reset.

It was stuck way before coming to the UI...
Anyway, the solution was simple: I detached the two other monitors, and I restarted it... so the application restarted correctly on the first monitor... :-)

In the Workspace dropdown menu click on Primary Display and select your main monitor there.

A question I should have asked, what did you do in the first place to move Resolve to the other monitor?

Thanks for your support.
What happened was simple: I just dragged the main window on another monitor, and after closing the application, it reamined stuck when I tried to restart it.
So I couldn't even get to the main menu, it remained in a blank white page, with Windows saying 'The application is not responding'.
After trying many different things (even reinstalling the application), I thought to just detach the other monitor, so restarting Resolve, it came on the primary. From that moment on, everything worked properly again.
A very strange problem, but if noone else ever had it, it must be something on my Windows configuration, maybe...

Glad you got it sorted.
It stuck on the other monitor because you dragged it there, the same thing as when you drag any window in Windows to another screen. Best way is to swap monitors around in either the nVidia or AMD menus, or use Resolves Primary Display selection. :)
