In fusion: How to make a paint change last for 4 frames

PostSun Sep 19, 2021 5:27 am

I'm embarrassed to ask such a simple question but I've never found how to make, for example, a change using a paint node in Fusion and then determine how many frames that it should be in effect.
Case in point, I used it to underline a word in red below in frame 1
Davinci1frameonly.jpg
Davinci1frameonly.jpg (181.68 KiB) Viewed 1704 times

(and frankly I'd intended for it to default to staying underlined for the rest of the clip.
But when you move from frame 1 to frame 2 it's already gone.

I thought "Stroke Duration" in the inspector might be the ticket but changing it from 1 to a number like 4 did not change the fact that the red underline goes away when you move from frame 1 to frame 2.
1. then what is "Stroke Duration" for?
2. How do I assign the frames that I want to have the painted underline?
Thanks!

Try to use the Stroke and not the Multistroke

Thanks iddos!
It works!

For others: Using single stroke you then have the ability in the Inspector (under Stroke Controls/Stroke animation/) for your change in paint to affect "All frames" or a "limited duration" (and the "Duration" slider is just below the Stroke Animation dropdown).

Thanks again,

FYI Stroke Duration is correct for Strok. In Stroke, the Inspector -> Tools properties you see apply only for new strokes. To edit existing strokes, go to Modifiers and find the stroke in question, and change its Stroke Duration or other property.

Multistroke is easier because all strokes are grouped together and can be controlled as one, as you've now found.
