strange cache location behaviour

I'm encountering a problem with cache disk. no matter what drive/folder i choose it always writes to the same hard drive. no matter if i delete and remount another one, restart program, delete things. nothing changes that behaviour. I also did a clear install. lates resolve version.

would be glad to send whatever other info on it if anyone wants.

Where exactly are you setting the cache location?

The correct location is Project Settings (on a per-project basis) -> Working Folders -> Cache files location.


There is another location that mentions Cache: Preferences -> System -> Media Storage -> Media Storage Locations. But I can't find any evidence that it's actually used for cache. Maybe it's used as a default for Project Settings until you've saved your own default preset, I'm not sure.

Have you set and checked "Cache files location" in Project Settings for all the projects you're working on? I'm wondering if you've only changed Media Storage Locations.

i guess i forgot about that option at some point and assumed in preferences is the cache setting.
