How to copy multiple tracks from one timeline to another

PostSun Sep 26, 2021 4:44 pm

I have a timeline in my source monitor, which has multiple tracks. How can I copy all or some tracks to another timeline? And is there a way to map which source track goes to which record track?

When I drag from the source window to the record window, only 1 audio and 1 video track are edited into my record timeline. It seems to take the top track from the source (V6 for example), and puts it into the bottom track (V1) on my new timeline, even though that timeline does have 6 (empty) video tracks.

For such editing tasks, I'm used to Avid, where you have track selectors on the left of the timeline for both source and record, and can map which source tracks go to which record tracks.

Is there a way to do this in Resolve?

My Google searches only seem to come up with instructions for copy/pasting clips. Haven't found anything about the source being a timeline and wanting to copy multiple entire tracks.

You would need to have "decompose compound clip" selected under the edit dropdown menu.

However, you don't have the option to choose which tracks get decomposed.

Wow, that'd be a nice feature.

So apparently, mapping the tracks doesn't seem to be possible.

However, copying all tracks to a new timeline is actually possible, with copy/paste:
  • open source timeline and select all (Ctrl-A)
  • copy all (Ctrl-C)
  • open new timeline and paste all (Ctrl-V)
For copying into an existing (not empty) timeline, it would need repeating that timeline switching and copy/pasting for each track.
