Incorrect display of Keywords with some unicode characters

PostTue Sep 28, 2021 3:59 pm

This is valid in 17.3.1 build 5 but I guess it's an old bug.
OS X 10.15.7

When imported a csv metadata file to selected media pools or selected media clips, if in Keyword filed is present a word containing a unicode characters (es. ä in säkerligen), in Metadata panel > Keywords the word is displayed as sä kerligen. This happens also with others characters like å, ä, ö but not with others unicode characters like è, à, or others.

I guess it's a display issue in Resolve because if then a csv file is generated to export metadata of the clip, in the csv file the Keyword is exported as säkerligen

I was troubleshooting something similar a while back. I can't remember well, but I think it appeared that in some places Resolve was using CP-1252 instead of UTF-8 and that was of course causing issues. I seem to remember this had to do with filenames and clip names, not with metadata.

Thanks Igor.

Checking the csv file generated by Resolve to export the metadata I found it's UTF-16.
My csv file was UTF-8 and this seems the issue with some characters.
Once converted my csv file from UTF-8 to UTF-16, it was no issue inside Resolve.
At least this seems to be valid for the OS X version of Resolve.
