Keeping Source Viewer Active

PostTue Sep 28, 2021 6:11 pm

When adding clips to the timeline from the source viewer, the timeline becomes the active window and you have to select the source viewer to resume dealing with the footage. I've set up a hot key to activate the source viewer but I'd love to skip this step. When I used to edit in FCPX (ugh) I was able to add clips "live" to my timeline without the source viewer even pausing playback. Major timesaver.

Is there a setting or method I'm not familiar with the achieve this?

Thanks!

yep there is a setting for that. From the top of my head, i think it's under timeline/edit and somewhere it says something like "switch to timeline after insert" which you can check/uncheck.
