Trouble with installation, "network resource is unavailable"

PostThu Sep 30, 2021 9:19 pm

Hi folks,

I've had versions of Resolve on my PC for a few years. At the moment I'm trying to upgrade from 16.x to 17.3.1.

I keep running into an error message, "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."

I actually think the real problem is the UN-installing of the previous version.

Anyway I've looked for the folder the installation trying to find, but can't find it anywhere on my PC. I suppose the bottom line is I need help getting 16.x uninstalled. (Yes I've also tried the Windows 10 uninstaller.)

Thanks...

You don't normally need to uninstall Resolve from a Windows system to install a NEWER Resolve version.

Is installing 17.3.1 not working? Is that message screen shot you posted coming from a 17.3.1 install attempt? Or a 16 uninstall attempt?

If you have any current Resolve projects you care about backed up, you could use this Microsoft utility to uninstall 16. And see if that allows 17.3.1 to install:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... or-removed

Run the app and it will automatically look for issues. If it doesn't find anything, it will present options for Uninstall and Install issues. Select Uninstall, and it will present a list of apps. Select DaVinci Resolve, and it should remove the current version, which should allow for the 17.3.1 installer to work.

The proposed solution with the Microsoft troubleshooter works like magic.
Thank you!
