Hello...
I'm a long-time Vegas Pro user and I've never liked Premiere Pro.
I downloaded some Pocket Cinema Camera 4k BRAW footage and though I'd play with the BRAW plugin for Premiere.
It played mostly fine, so I tried Resolve.
It was noticeably more laggy.
Then I tried Vegas Pro 19 and it was pretty smooth, as well.
So, for some technicals...
https://filmplusgear.com/blackmagic-raw ... -download/
The footage I downloaded was the helicopter clip.
It's 2160p@50fps BRAW 8:1.
My computer is an i7-6700 (4-core with Hyperthreading), 16GB RAM, Radeon RX480 video card, NVMe for the OS/programs, and footage on mechanical drives in RAID10.
In each program, I did the same basic steps...
Add white balance, color correction, color curves, and stabilize.
In Vegas, I did them all on the file with Media FX.
In Premiere, I did them all on the clip.
In Resolve, I did stabilize in the clip's inspector and the rest in Fusion.
Fade in/out the file.
Cut file into 3 clips and crossfade between them.
On each clip I did some basic transform and movement (100%-150% zoom, 200% zoom and pan from left to right, 125%-175% zoom and move from bottom-left to top-right).
Add text overlay above each clip.
Premiere defaults to 2160p with a playback resolution of 1/2.
Vegas defaults to 2160p with Preview (Auto).
I think Resolve defaulted to full quality playback.
I tried Playback Proxy mode of half resolution, changing the Timeline Resolution to 1080p@25 and Video Monitoring to 1080p@25, and even Camera RAW to Blackmagic RAW and Decode Quality to half res.
Can you guys think of any reasons why Resolve would perform worse with BRAW than Premiere and Vegas?
Thanks...
JJ
