Has anyone been able to upgrade to DaVinchi Studio Pro? If so, how did you do it?

yes, yes. if only it was that easy. I've been trying for over a month with no luck. Here's what I have tried so far:

1) I was expecting, as any normal person would, that within the DaVinci product, there would be an easy "Upgrade" button that would ask for a credit card. done. To my shock and amazement, no one has, apparently ever thought of that.

2) I tried clicking on the upgrade options within DaVinchi, and they only take you to lists of outside companies that sell video editing gear. A little surprising, but I decided to click on a few of them. Most of the failed to even go to a site that sold Davinch Products.

3) I finally found one web page (Adorama or something) that brought up something when I searched for "Davinchi Studio", although it wasn't clear if it was actually selling davinchi Studio or not. I honestly could not tell from the description what they were selling, but the price was for $295, so I assumed it was the right product. I was eager to upgrade so I went a head and purchased the item expecting to have an electron key show up in my email address so I could upgrade. But no luck.

4) Instead weeks went by and I finally got an email saying, "Your product has shipped". And I am thinking, "WTF is this?!?" What are they shipping?? I ordered an elerectonic key and it's taking them 3 weeks to ship it to me via UPS?? I then emailed the company to ask what was going on and their response was, "We have no clue what you ordered, so contact Black Magic if you have any questions."

5) So the package finally showed up and instead of an electronic key, it was a piece of editing hardware, and no key. I didn't even know I had ordered any editing hardware. :(

6) I have spent weeks emailing the company asking what they sent me or how do I upgrade to DaVinchi pro, and but they have no clue.

If anyone knows the "secret" I would love to know.

thanks!

Did the shipment with the Speed Editor have a plastic license key card in the package ?
If not, I recommend contacting your local BMD office and provide them details, contact info on the web site.

Rick, you seem very vague on what you actually ordered. What does your invoice say?
At the moment there is a deal running that if you buy the Resolve Studio version you get the Speed Editor included for free. There is also an option to purchase just the Speed Editor. This is the same price but does not come with Resolve Studio.
When I received the Speed Editor this folder was in the box with the Activation card inside. The Activation Code is on the back. If you have it, or when you do, make sure you keep this card in a safe place. The code on the back is the only way you can activate or re-activate Resolve if you need to.

I've just had a look at the Adorama website and you only have four choices for DaVinci Resolve Studio. If you read the description for each it says what they are.

here's the description copy and pasted right from the email they sent me: "Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 17 Studio, License Key "

That's all it says. which is why it was so shocking to me that it would take a month to show up, and then come in a large box with editing equipment, but no key.

After a couple of weeks of emails going back and forth, they are indeed shipping me out a new activation card. There was no activation card in the order, just the editing equipment (which I did not even realize was coming).

The entire process is just very strange and confusing. I would much prefer to just give black magic my credit card info and have them email me an activation key.

after a couple more weeks I now have my activation key! however I cannot figure out where to enter it. any help?!?

The only instruction says, "enter your activation key below", but there's no place to enter it!!

I am actually amazed that anyone has ever been able to upgrade. I am a computer programmer and I can't figure this sh*t out. I've been trying to upgrade for 3 months now.

Uninstall the Free version. Download and install the Studio version. Just follow the on screen instructions while installing. You will be asked for the Activation Key during the install on a page like this.
