I don't even know how to ask for help for this...

PostWed Oct 20, 2021 3:40 am

Please, please, PLEASE, explain what is happening right now and why can I not actually edit anything? I have no idea how to explain it so I've compiled a video of what's happening as well as a commentary of me struggling not to lose my mind during this... bug???????? I'm honestly super confused at why this is happening

Less opinion in the video please

Also, I don't see the problem: Clicking Delete moves the next clip to where you deleted from. If you want to remove the clip but keep position, Backspace is your friend.
Expected behaviour as detailed in the manual page 648.

looks to me like you are cutting from the lower track while having a track above which you aren't cutting.
so when the playhead moves back to the edit point its still showing the unedited top track, as it's supposed to, while the edited track is underneath and not visible.

OMG. Yeah. It's obviously that.

I shouldn't have replied before breakfast!

OP, if your intention was to cut all tracks, you can use Alt-B to cut through all tracks at the position of the playhead. If no clips are selected, it will cut through them all. If some clips are selected, it will cut through those. So in this example, either have both clips selected, or no clips selected, and Alt-B will cut both and then you can ripple delete both.

Or maybe you just wanted to cut and ripple the clip on Video Layer 2, as that's the track you're actually seeing in the viewer at this playhead position.

That track above the video was at 0 opacity. Anyway, I found the fix to it. I had to just render what I had, and start from an entirely new project and continue on there. There was literally a red exclamation on the video when you delete a clip. If you don't like the opinions in the video just mute them, it's not my fault the app has bugs in it and they still somehow want a whopping $299 for the final product.

Fix if anyone has this: Press O at the end of the video before it happens, go to Deliver, go down to advanced settings and uncheck Force sizing debayer and force sizing or it'll also give you an error for no reason. Then render it, open up a new project and paste your rendered video in there and continue working. The same clip I used no longer gave a red exclamation, and produced any error logs after that. So hope that helps anyone else out :)

I've been using Resolve for more than 10 years, and I've never had this happen. Maybe I've been lucky, or maybe I use it differently. It does have some bugs, but this isn't one of them (to me).

My advice: sit down and go through every page of the free Resolve 17 Editing Guide textbook:

https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... e/training

It should only take you 4-5 days -- the lessons are only about 500 pages or so. This is particularly important if you're coming to Resolve from other kinds of editing software.

A whopping $299? Err......
I'm not sure where you set the opacity to 0, but in your video the top track is very clearly showing normally.

Maybe you have a bug with opacity but from what you showed it appears to work as it should when you cut a lower track and not the top track.

The bright red exclamation mark is an indication that Conform Lock has been disabled. Try re-enabling it to see if that helps.
