Dolby Atmos hardware

PostWed Oct 20, 2021 3:37 pm

Hello fellow resolve people :)
Since there is very little to none info on what hardware to use/buy for monitoring dolby atmos (my case 7.1.4, at a "reasonable price, i found these from focusrite.

https://pro.focusrite.com/category/audi ... red-16line

https://pro.focusrite.com/category/audi ... /rednet-r1

https://pro.focusrite.com/category/audi ... dnet-pcier i dont have a thunderbolt 3 in my pc so my guess is to use this to hook up to the red 16 and then to r1 for monitor control.

i have a bunch of yamaha HS7 and HS8 monitors, i guess the will do for the learning curve..

Is there any other hardware that is needed to monitor Dolby Atmos in Davinci Resolve Studio?

Thanks for input

Henrik :)

Those options should be adequate if using the native Atmos Renderer in Resolve Studio and the PCIe card is definitely preferred to Dante Virtual Soundcard which incurs massive latency.

Assuming Windows, there have been several reports of Focusrite driver issues on this forum, so if possible confirm performance is adequate on a Resolve system prior to purchase.

If on macOS be aware that RedNet PCIe and PCIeR cards are not compatible with Apple Silicon processors.

That option seems more expensive that the BMD Fairlight Audio Accelerator and Interface.

I'm running that on my iMac with the accelerator in a PCIe expander and a the 7.1.4 analog outputs to amps then speakers.

I've not tried this one but Motu also have a 16A thats i that range if you need it compatible with other apps.

I haven't tried my MOTU A16 with Resolve for Atmos, but I do have it set up and running with Nuendo Henrik, so if there's anything you want me to look at let me know.
