Playback not working after edits anymore

PostThu Oct 21, 2021 3:05 am

I initially downloaded Resolve 17 and was having no issues when creating videos. I recently updated to version 17.3.2 and since doing so have been unable to make edits without resolve randomly crashing when playing back the edits. This only pertains to playback with the video, not the audio, and it is occurring prior to rendering. I can upload clips, put them in the timeline and as soon as I start to make edits, resolve will decide when it "crashes" during the edit or after making it and playing it back (like adding an effect or applying slow motion). I resort to restarting the program and the playback may work initially or not, but if it does it will "crash" at some point and the audio will continue to play, but where the crash occurs the video will simply glitch for the remainder of the video playback. I am aware of the playback settings you can change like adjusting render cash, timeline proxy settings, or bypassing color grades but nothing I have tried will fix it. I am new here so forgive me if I am missing anything and please let me know if additional info is needed. I have provided some system/software information but was not able to upload any attachments because everything I attempted to was not allowed (.txt/.nfo/mp4) or it was too large. If there is a way I can upload the logs, I have them but just need to know how to do so Any help is greatly appreciated!

If your GPU only has 512MB vram I'm surprised that Resolve runs at all. The recommended minimum for HD is a GPU with 2GB vram.
That said, here is how to post logs.

Thank you, I attempted to post the URL and put spaces in it but I kept getting the "cannot post URLs" error. Let's see if this works. I took off the main domain name. You will need to enter drop box's URL and then the below following to get to the logs, video and other information.

Logs, video and other system information. Let me know if you need anything else! Type in dropboxdotcom and add the below after the URL.

I was doing a little more research and it looks like my GPU does have 2gb of vram. I checked this in the BIOS. I am not sure the representation of 512mb is accurate as I was reading that the dedicated video memory displayed in the "display adapter properties" isn't necessarily accurate to what you GPU actually has. Confusing, but just wanted to provide further info.
