Please get AAF export sorted. Still not working.

PostSun Oct 24, 2021 8:51 pm

This is as basic a session I can think of, that Davinci can't export a working AAF for.
3 minute project.
21 Audio clips
6 audio tracks

If this was a real project for a client, I'd be dead in the water.
Why can you still not get this working properly?

Figured it out.
It doesn't like MP3's in the timeline.
So either fix that, or convert MP3's to wave files on import automatically.
As it is currently, it's unacceptable.

The AAF standard does not support the usage of MP3:
https://static.amwa.tv/as-07-mxf-archiv ... n-spec.pdf

P.32 and onward

Audio shall be PCM, AC-3, or Dolby E. The number of channels is unlimited, and as many tracks shall be employed as needed to represent the number of channels. PCM Audio may have any values up to 192kHz at 24 bit word length.

So why are you diverting from the standard and then complain?
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

Try reading what I said about converting it on import to a wave file, just like pro-tools does to make sure compatibility isn't an issue.
Or maybe having a non-cryptic message stating the specific incompatible file type is being used.

Stop making excuses for poorly coded software.

If you want a piece of software converting everything to the same format and constantly lashing out at you with error messages there is still Avid Media Composer out there.

Again, if it can't also export a specific media, it shouldn't import it.

Protools will only import media it can convert itself.

Resolve should be convert media on import, or give you a message stating the specific media is incompatible for export. Instead of some mumbo jump nonsensical error message.
