Free Fairlight Sound Library doesnt work?

PostMon Oct 25, 2021 10:25 am

Hello all,

I recently discovered the Free Sound Library and wanted to add it to DaVinci Resolve Studio 17.4.
Download, unzip, install .exe is all no problem, via VLC I can also listen to the .wav files.
In DaVinci at Sound Library via "Add Library..." I search for the correct location, confirm, the computer works a little and says at some point Sound Library Scan Successful - added 515 clips out of 515 clips...

Unfortunately I can't find these supposedly imported clips anywhere... not in the media page, not in the fairlight page and also not via the search function, no matter how the filter is set, the sound library remains at 0 results.

What can I do except import it manually? Can anyone help me here?

It shows no results until you a search - a common cause of confusion.

But you can search for *** to see every result.

Thanks. I have that in place and I also have another sound library I purchased.
How do I install this new library (it's in a series of folders inside one master folder)

Create a new database in the Project Manager - e.g. PosgreSQL - and assign a title - e.g. "SFX Library".

It is advisable to create a dedicated Disk or Postgres database for Sound Libraries which is separate from databases containing Projects. This ensures that sound libraries remain globally available, even as databases are removed from the Project Manager.

Open any Project in any database and in the Fairlight Sound Library panel click the Expand button (next to the "Filter by" dropdown) and select the "SFX Library" database from the list of available databases.

Access the Add Library function from the Fairlight Sound Library's Additional Options (3 dots) menu and point to the path containing all your media.

Note: the "SFX Library" database need not contain any Projects, it is simply a container for all sound effects.

If you have multiple SFX databases (e.g. to categorise and separate internal libraries from commercial libraries) these databases are all globally available from within any Project or database with a search in the Fairlight Sound Library panel.

Note that the "Blackmagic Fairlight Sound Library 1.0" installer creates its own entity. It is not possible to add content to the database and the Additional Options (3 dots) menu in Resolve's Sound Library panel disables if the "Blackmagic Fairlight Sound Library" database is selected.
