Clean Feed image garbage after update, main viewer is fine?

PostTue Oct 26, 2021 2:48 pm

Here's a screenshot of both of my monitors simultaneously.
Left side is Clean Feed "2nd" monitor, right side is primary monitor with Cinema Viewer enabled. Obviously, the right side is what I've been working on the last month, the left is the new broken image. "It looks like 8-bit" would be giving it too much credit.

It delivers fine though.

-Resolve 17.4
-Mac Pro 2019 (16 core, 96GB Ram, Radeon Pro 5700x GPU)
-macOS Big Sur 11.6
-2x Dell 2720Q, calibrated

working fine until the update. Any ideas?

Same here with DVR17.3.2. 8-bit like image, with lo-fi aberrations on blacks.

This doesn't seems a DVR17.4 issue, but maybe a system missconfiguration.

Here using a Benq monitor connected to an iMac2019. However if I assign the Benq as primary monitor, and the iMac as clean feed, aberrations also happen on the iMac. So this doens't seems a connections issue.

I hope someone can give some light.

I've found a "solution":

Disable this checkbox on Preferences > General > "Use Mac display color profiles for viewers"

This has solved my issue, but the problem now is that skin tones on DVR viewers look really different from one display to the other.

Disabling this setting is overridding calibration?

However with calibration clean feed display looks like 8-bit. Or I'm missing something?

Definitive solution: RECALIBRATE your display.

On the post above I suggested to turn off "Use Mac display color profiles for viewers", which will work if you are on a hurry.

Today, I've recalibrated my monitor displays using an old "X-Rite i1 Display", then turned on again Preferences > General > "Use Mac display color profiles for viewers"... and now Clean Feed image looks perfect.

I hope it helps.
