Updated to 17.4, issue with audio plugins

PostWed Oct 27, 2021 3:06 am

Hi,

I just updated to the latest 17.4
I wanted to try some VST plugins. After I specified a folder for the new audio plugins, and restarted DaVinci, it can't play back in real time anymore.
I closed DaVinci, checked the task manager to make sure there isn't another instance already running, but nothing helped.

I then did a reboot, which seems to have fixed the issue. A new attempt at trying other audio plugin caused the same issue again. I will reboot, hoping that it'll fix it, though I'm quite confused by the behavior.

Any hints?

Here are my PC specs:

What specific plugins?
Are they VST 2 or 3?

Where are you putting your VSTs? These are my locations shown in Preferences and all work.

For some reason, I missed the replies.

Thanks Charles, for the screenshot.

I think my paths were pretty much the same, but I went back and made sure that they match.
Apparently, it worked fine for a while, but I guess the issue is actually more serious.

Basically, Resolve started to be quite slow again, so I thought to disable the audio plugins. I even removed the audio folders from the preferences.
No luck. Now, it takes a long time to launch, and after the splash screen, another long pause before the Project Manager window shows up. Opening a project takes even more time. Lastly, the play black is not even remotely real time, with big chunks of the video going black as Resolve tries to keep up with the audio.
Turning off the audio play back doesn't do much either, the preview is just sluggish to say the least.

Not sure what is going on. It worked fine for quite a while.

I'm now running the latest version 17.4.2 build 9

I checked the logs, and one thing I noticed is the message below:

Code: Select all
osc.TcpClient WARN: failed to connect with error: The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request
