I've just noticed that Resolve 17.4 presets are not very good. BM keeps trying to simplify them, but so far end results are not very convincing at all.
Focusing on 17.4 as latest version.
Automatic color management=ON
Color Processing Mode= HDR
Output Color Space = HDR PQ
Is gamut limited to P3? (if you untick auto and then go to custom mode you will find out it's NOT)
About any delivery requires Rec.2100 (because P3 is not a 'transmission' standard), so actual used gamut should be clearly stated:
I don't know why we need so many option saying Rec.2020 ST2084 XXXX nits (same with P3 XX nits) where just one line below you have Mastering to XXX nits option. 1 place is enough to set mastering nits, no? It all gets confusing and messy for no reason.
Besides - Rec.2020 should not be used (even if this is just a gamut description) with HDR. If anything at all of Rec.2020 XXX nits presets should be called Rec.2100 XX nits.
As for today (actually good last few years) using Rec.2020 1000nits is simply technically incorrect as Rec.2020 is defined for SDR content (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Rec.2100 was defined in 2016 so why for all these past years everything regarding HDR was (still is) using Rec.2020 (naming), which is for SDR content?
Rec.2020 HLG ARIB STD-B67 there is no such a thing ? If anything it should be called Rec.2100 HLG ARIB STD-B67?
We straight away (after new standard introduction) have another industry mess present in top grading tool.
