importing xml: clip in track at timecode with reel name '' -

PostThu Nov 04, 2021 4:41 am

hi you guys
im exporting a timeline from premiere via XML
ive already pre-imported the media into resolve
then doing the standard resolve 'import timeline'

my pre-imported media is showing up white and found and linked
when i scrub thru some of them it all looks correct

but when im import the timeline (with auto-import off)
i get the err:
Clip XXX in track YYY at timecode ZZ:ZZ:ZZ:ZZ with reel name ''
(literally the 2 single quotes at the end)

so i checked premiere and the timecode in the first clip is matching the slate 22:50:47:01
the new resolved timeline settings match the orig premiere timeline - good
but every clip that gets that error comes in as media offline
and then when resolve asks me to locate the media it says it cant find it

i check the XML and it shows my first clip coming in where its supposed to:

Code: Select all
-<file id="file-1">
<name>A009C008_210810_RP74.mxf</name>
<pathurl>file://localhost/A%3a/moon/exports/color110121/source/Day4/A009RP74/A009C008_210810_RP74.mxf</pathurl>
-<rate>
<timebase>24</timebase>
<ntsc>TRUE</ntsc>
</rate>
<duration>2040</duration>
-<timecode>
-<rate>
<timebase>24</timebase>
<ntsc>TRUE</ntsc>
</rate>
<string>22:50:39:18</string>             <----------- GOOD
<frame>1973754</frame>
<displayformat>NDF</displayformat>
</timecode>
-<media>
-<video>
-<samplecharacteristics>
-<rate>
<timebase>24</timebase>
<ntsc>TRUE</ntsc>
</rate>
<width>4480</width>
<height>1856</height>
<anamorphic>FALSE</anamorphic>
<pixelaspectratio>square</pixelaspectratio>
<fielddominance>none</fielddominance>
</samplecharacteristics>
</video>
</media>
</file>

so its looking like the premiere TC is matching the XML and good

but when importing into resolve its not linking
instead - got that weird err
and theres a big red sign that says 'media offline'

i go back and check my media pool
and its says that for A009C008
start TC= 01:35:30:02
end TC = 01:36:55:02
at least the duration is correct with 2040 frames!

so clearly the time code mismatch is causing the issue
but with the XML being correct does anyone know what might be causing this issue on import

ive run into this problem years ago - somehow fixed it
and now that its happening again - i cant remember what i did
grateful for your help if you have some protips here...
