Every small move causes a pinwheel and lag

PostFri Nov 05, 2021 11:13 pm

Something happened in my session where every time I do anything, even super small, I get a pinwheel or lagging effect. Has anyone ever experienced this?

I'm running 17.4.1 and my computer specs are:

Mac Pro (2019)
3.2ghz 16 core intel xeon w processor
memory 768gb 2933 mhz ddr4
radeon pro vega II 32gb

I have 400gb of HD space left as well.

Here's a video of the problem in action (oddly QuickTime screen record does not record the pinwheels, so if you see the mouse freezing or lagging, that is where it was a pinwheel)

I copied the timeline and it seems like it’s not making my audio stutter too.

I've went and removed everything thing Adobe has on my computer via the Creative Cloud and it seems to have done the trick at the moment. Would that make sense?

Lots of Resolve users also have Adobe stuff installed, myself included, and it shouldn't cause any problems with Resolve.

If the problem comes back I suggest posting your logs - details on how are in this FAQ post: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=90190
Resolve Studio 17.4.3 and Fusion Studio 17.4.3 on macOS 11.6.1

after reading this, i did some tests with adobe software (cc2021) installed, and without.
now i can confirm this and from now on finally my mac computers are adobe free +g*

resolve just feels smoother without adobe soft installed.

I dunno man -- I highly doubt BMD & the Resolve devs would nurf performance based on if another NLE or similar software were installed (that would be plain stupid).

Just think about it for a min.. If that were truly the case, it would be the end of Resolve for many and hurt BMD's rep greatly... So I'm gonna have to go with no.... there's something else causing the issue.

that I am on macOS have you noticed?

and the phenomenon does not only affect resolve,
but generally the work not only on this computer,
but also on others and even my much newer models.

Adobe was crap on my past computers and made even my high performance computers slow. That was one of the reasons I cancelled all subscriptions after years and went to BMD for video editing and never looked back.
