Davinci Resolve Keyboard Shortcut List

PostFri Nov 19, 2021 10:55 pm

Hello,

Blackmagic provided this great keyboard shortcut list way back with Version 11.
https://documents.blackmagicdesign.com/ ... rtcuts.pdf

I am hoping that there is an updated one? Can a forum administrator request the team to create an updated one if there are new shortcuts since V11?

I understand that I can go into a menu and hunt and peck for a shortcut, but this list is very, very, very nice to have as a reference tool and much easier to use than hunt and peck.

Sincerely,

A new user

Is there an updated DOC for version 19 yet? If not, how about 18? Thank you!

This is great, but not very usable in its current form. It appears to have been created in a spreadsheet. Would it be possible to get a spreadsheet copy, XLS or some other common format, that we can use to format it better? Cheers.

For others, here is one for V19 too that is formatted nicely.

Re: Davinci Resolve Keyboard Shortcut List

OK, so I've searched for a comprehensive keyboard shortcut lists for Resolve V19 and did not find one, so I spent many hours over the last few days creating one myself and am going to share it here. I tried to determine how best to lay things out and to determine what shortcuts were defined by default. I went about that in multiple ways.

I exported the default set from the Keyboard Customization panel and went through the document line by line pulling out the shortcuts listed there (it was pretty much a mess and included zero Fusion shortcuts). It was far from complete, so I then went through every menu, sub menu, panel menu, viewer menu, and context menu in Resolve and pulled them from there. I then entered every keystroke into the Keyboard Customization panel to determine the context as it defines them. Even it was incorrect in many places, and many times the context didn't make sense to me and some that appear in menus were not defined in the Key Customization panel at all. I assumed they were hardwired or built-in by default.

In the Spreadsheet and PDFs, you'll find the complete list of shortcuts in Resolve V19, along with comments on some that I found either didn't work, or to give hints as to context, especially those that appear nowhere in any menu. I've provided the working spreadsheet that you can mold for any output format you like. I've also provided 2 sets of PDFs, two with comments and two without. One set is sorted by Command or Action, or how it might appear in a menu, and the other is sorted by the Keystroke. Note that I tried for consistency in that where there is something like Ctrl + Shift + X, I always listed the Ctrl/Alt before the Shift, and Numpad keys are simply enumerated as Num 1, Num 2, Num *, etc., with no "+". I think it'll be clear.

If you find anything that I've missed, or is incorrect, please post it here, and I'll try to keep a master copy up to date. Enjoy. Cheers.

EDIT (Feb 3): I found an error on the "[" and "]" shortcuts. I indicated that they had Fusion context, but they do not. Not a biggie, but I have updated the master and it will be reflected in an update. I am also thinking of another layout that only shows context by Page (and then sub panels if necessary, e.g., Color > Nodes, as some shortcuts are pretty specific), instead of what I have. I found it difficult at times to represent things correctly with either the "Menu Item" or using comments. I'm not sure if where a shortcut appears in the various menus is helpful or not (let me know). If anyone has any other ideas to make it easier to use/understand, let me know.

Thank you very much indeed for all the work you must have put in to produce these. Much appreciated. For those thinking of downloading, in the spreadsheet version there are 550 rows of shortcuts, well set out and with comments where necessary eg when they appear not to work in Windows.

OK, here is the new version organized by Page with some corrections in a zip containing the XLS and two PDFs, as before, one sorted by Key and the other by Command.

Enjoy. Let me know if you find anything that needs changing. Cheers.

Would be great if there was the ability to export the Keyboard Shortcut Settings to a PDF formatted like that.

I wonder if someone could write a translator that would look into the exported Keyboard Settings file and do it from that.

Yes, that would be super helpful, and included with the manual!

Regarding the translator, that's basically what I did by hand initially. Unfortunately, taken at face value without all the other effort involved in creating the final spreadsheet (e.g., going through each shortcut to see where in Resolve it works, etc.), I didn't find it of much value because it was just too incomplete and wrong. In addition, the categorization used in the file is meaningless to most of us, and there were ZERO Fusion shortcuts in the Exported file (not sure why not).

You can see what I mean in the following PDF that is a direct 'translation' of the Export keyfile.
(NOTE: This PDF file contains many errors).
