I have a 2019 Mac Pro with a single “Radeon Pro W5700X with 16GB of GDDR6 memory” graphics card. I can add a second for $1,000. I’m wondering if, or even how much, it will improve playback of Fusion effects and heavy color grading on ProRes footage. Really it’s more about Fusion — I get real-time playback of multi stream 4K30p ProRes in the timeline and it’s pretty hard to make the color room slow down, but Fusion definitely takes time to cache and things like tracking and stabilization could always be faster. I figure it’ll be another year or two before we see M1-whatever based Mac Pros and I probably wouldn’t spend the money to realce my Mac Pro right away when that happens, so I’m wondering if the second GPU will noticeably help, or if there’s a better option (i.e. a different GPU entirely) that I should consider.
Thanks!
