Playback slowdown on data burn-in with empty values

PostFri Nov 26, 2021 9:56 pm

Hey there!

Had a weird problem.

I've got a lot of footage from old vhs videocam. The footage was digitalized 352x572 25fps. The chunks are hour, hour and a half long.

So that, the editor and I (I'm assistan ed.) start to use the markers durations to classified the clips inside the chunks.

We data burn-in %marker name% into the Custom Text 1 on the Proyect tab.

Everything goes smoothly until the other day that I used a clip from the chunk that wasn't "marked", when the playhead reached the clip, playback dropped to 5.5 or even less fps... Also tried to render it, same problem, rendering dropped to 2 or 3 fps.

After a lot of reading and testing, I discovered that it seems that using the Custom Text 1 with a descriptor, as %marker name%, that is going to be empty causes the problem. If I uncheck the Custom Text 1, everything runs smoothly again.

Is this a bug or something like that? or just I missed some config param?

Thanks!
