[Linux] Problems with sound in 17.4.2

PostMon Nov 29, 2021 4:40 am

Hello,

After upgrade to 17.4.2 I have problems with sound playback o Linux.
Getting sound working Fairflight it was partially solved by patching outputs, but sound is still missing on Edit page. The VU meter on the main bus works and shows audio levels, but nothing is coming out from the speakers.
Sound in Fairlight works, but is delayed by approx. 0.5s.
As a temporary fix I rolled back to 17.4.1, where sound works without problems, but I'd like to ask BMD to fix it in the next release.

Mmm, weird, sounds definitely works for me on the edit page.

Do you use ALSA directly or PulseAudio through the Alsa plugin ?

I'm using Fedora, and they switched to Pipewire. If the audio did not work at all, I would blame it on the new audio system. But since in Fairlight I can get audio out, and in Edit I only have silence, this looks very weird.

I read somewhere here in a topic (or somewhere else on the internet) there is a visual patching sw called "qjackctl".
This is running on fedora35 also.

In this app you can connect virtual cables between devices. So it is possible your DaVinci Resolve Studio (DRS) output is not virtually patched to your headset/speaker etc. Most of the automatic patching working fine such as connecting a bluetooth headset and when I switch to there I can see new virtual wires in the "qjackctl" sw immediately on the screen (when you run it choose "graph" at the bottom left)

However in my case I can see only MONO input for DRS, however I have stereo output that I should be recorded in DRS.
