DNG (SIGMA fp) file problem in davinci resolve

PostTue Nov 30, 2021 8:06 pm

When importing a file, black pixels appear in the shadows. When the same file is opened in a Adobe Camera RAW or PDplayer, there are no black pixels in the shadows. Perhaps these are presets when importing to Davichi. Help pls!

Does Adobe Camera RAW or PDplayer use the GPU to process images?

It might be a system or config or GPU driver issue?

pdplyaer does not use GPU

"No, Pdplayer's pixel engine is completely CPU-based. Modern multicore CPUs provide enough computing power for its needs. One advantage of this decision is that Pdplayer does not require a powerful GPU and can run well on most notebook computers."

What is the solution?
Thanks

When I convert through PDplyaer dng to exr and open exr in Davinci there are no black dots in shadows.

We need a sample file that shows the issue.

We need a Resolve log file. Generate from the Resolve Help Menu: Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop

We need a Windows System Information .NFO file. Open the Windows System Information app and select the File - Save menu to generate the .NFO file.

Put all these files on a file sharing site and provide a link to the files.

Seems to be an artifact of having Camera Raw Decode Quality set to Full res.

Set Decode Quality to Half res. and the black dots go away.

PDPlayer doesn't have a decode quality setting, so not sure how it's default settings compare to Resolve.

Zooming in on PDPlayer to see the dots area, the image looks much softer than a similar zoom in the Resolve Viewer window, so I suspect it may be related to that.

My only suggestion on the Resolve side is to set the Decode Quality to Half res.

Yes, I see that pdplayaer decodes differently. This may be due to the fact that he uses the CPU. Thank you very much for the answer and for your time!
