Edited Resolved - "Cannot find appropriate codec" - h265

PostMon Dec 06, 2021 4:31 pm

Edit - Resolved

I have a brand new Lenovo laptop with Windows 11 and a NVDIA 3060 graphics card with 6gb. When i try and render out a video (1920x1028 at 30fps) to h265 I get an error saying the system cannot find the appropriate codec. Do i need to set something up/configure something different?

I am using the Studio / paid version of Resolve currently 17.4.2.

Resolution

In case anyone else gets this problem. The "Type" field defaults to Native - by changing it to "NVDIA" the encoding worked ok... I don't know why it defaulted to Native - i'm pretty sure my desktop didn't do that... but either way, I can render in h265

Are you using Resolve Studio or the free version? There are limitations on codecs in the free version.
