Media Offline - Debug/Fix Process

PostMon Jan 17, 2022 3:37 pm

I have searched the forum and do not find a post(s) that gives me a handle/process for debugging and fixing this problem when I encounter it.

I would like to follow a methodical process for resolving this. Almost always, the media is in the media pool, can review it, and it/they also play fine in a fusion composition. But gives Media Offline error when I am in the Edit/Timeline view.

While I understand there may be many pathways that could cause this error.
Instead of those specific scenarios, all I am looking for is the first few steps to do to diagnose and fix.
That is,

1) How do I find what Media is Offline?
2) How do I find out where DaVinci is looking for that Media and not finding it?
3) How do I change/point it to the right location for the media
4) Or restore the media link?

This for both Mac M1 Mini as well as for Windows 10.
I am on Free Version of DaVinci 17.* latest a few days ago.

Thanks in advance

Sri.
