Issue with Color Grading using Groups

PostTue Jan 18, 2022 12:52 am

So I’m just starting to learn how to speed up my color grading process using Groups, but I’ve stumbled upon something irritating that I can’t seem to fix.
I know that the Group Pre/Post-Clip sections are for applying grades to the whole group(s), and that the Clip section is for adjustments for each clip if needed. But for some reason I recently went to make an adjustment on a clip and the adjustments I made show up in other clips. Not all clips, but other specific ones.

There are 3 other clips that are receiving the same adjustments, all in the same group.

That's odd. Is it happening on just that node or is it mimicing the entire tree i.e. you add another node and do some stuff, that node appears on the other clip too.

Maybe try removing and re-adding the clips back into that group. Not sure what else you could try.

Yes whatever I add will appear in the other clip(s). I already tried removing and re-adding them to the group. I even deleted all the nodes, removed them from the group and tried color grading from there without using Groups and the same problem STILL occurs.
My guess of what’s happening is a Groups bug; before I settled them into this group (“CEREMONY”) they were previously in a different group, which I removed them from and deleted. Perhaps the bug is that DaVinci is still seeing them as related from the previous group? Yet what I don’t understand is HOW are the CLIP nodes copying when the soul function of the Clip section is to keep the nodes it contains unique???

Are you using "remote grade" by any chance?

I’m not sure, I’m new to that term. What is it?

On the current manual, check for page 2743 - local and remote grading

No I'm not using that. I did notice this icon in the Clip window.

Does anyone know what this means?

That icon means exactly that you're using remotes grades.

My mistake, I thought you were referring to the other Remote Grading. Thanks for your help!
