Adjust part of a master timeline clip in color?

PostTue Jan 18, 2022 5:55 am

I have a clip on my master timeline that I had to cut because the lighting changed. The first half of the clip is on the left, the second half is on the right. I added a gamma adjustment to fix the first half of the clip but when I apply it, it's applied to both halves of the original clip.

I'm sure this is pretty basic but I haven't spent as much time on color as I have everything else so please go easy.

I did read through the color manual but didn't see this specific issue with regards to master timeline clips.

____
To clarify, I cut the clip in the master timeline. The clips shown here are the 2 halves.

It looks like you're using remote grades, and thus the grade is applying to both clips.

Yes. Still needing to add a node to one half of the cut clip but not the other half. Would prefer to not have to resort to using adjustment clips.

If the shot itself is continuous why not keyframe the correction clip instead of cutting it?
You can also add them into a group if they aren't part of any other group and apply the global grade in the Pre or Post clip node tree and the adjustment on the clip tree.

Or move the grade from remote to local of course.

Thanks! I had never keyframed in the color page so I didn't know that was a solution.

Still trying to figure out how local and remote grades work. I have a basic understanding but it'll take some work. Going to do the color training again as soon as I wrap up a few projects.
