Why am I getting 64 audio tracks after overwrite?

PostTue Jan 18, 2022 5:02 pm

Most of my source footage has either 2, 4, or 8 tracks, but occasionally when I do an overwrite edit, 64 tracks appear on my Timeline. What's that all about? A bug, I suppose.

It's not impossible that it's a bug Jim, but it's likely impossible to diagnose without more specific detail.

If /when you next notice it happen, try an undo & redo to see if it's repeatable ... if it is, then post screenshots and/or screen recoding plus specific details regarding the source clip attributes, the project and timeline settings etc etc. The more info the better. Or better still, if possible, share a source file and drp that demonstrates the behaviour.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm swamped, but this issue has recurred on a new project.

I'm attaching a screen grab from a project with .mxf source footage. Note audio tracks #55-64. Source only has 8 tracks.

I'll try to add more info as my schedule eases up.

This is a grab of the Clip Attributes pane, which lies about the file having 64 tracks.

What does Media Info say about the same clip, Jim? And would it be possible to share that clip?

Sorry for the delayed reply. Very busy trying to get projects out the door.

Sources seem to consistently be .mxf.

I can't send you footage without violating an NDA.

But, I can send you a .drt without media, and a text export from MediaInfo, which reports the source footage only has 8 audio tracks.

I hope this is helpful:
