It is my understanding that a multicam clip contains only what has been selected when it is constructed. So video files are scaled to the project resolution, all audio selected is included etc if something is muted it is excluded etc. For instance if a video track is muted it is excluded. I now do no effects on the multicam clip until I have finished editing. Then flatten and now everything is back to the original clip parameters. That way I can crop into clip, zoom pan around a UHD video clip in 19209x1080 etc on the original resolution and not the scaled version in the multicam clip. I edit my audio first, save a wav file that I then use with the multicam audio muted for the edit. I keep that audio timeline so that I could go back and make another version if I want.
