0.Enable stacked timeline

1. Create multicam clip
2. Drag to timeline
3. Right click multicam click and select "open in timeline"
4. go to fairlight page
5. apply fx (eq or comp and possibly others) to audio track inside multicam clip
6. go back to edit page and switch to a different timeline
7. switch back to the multicam timeline

= FX are gone.

Anyone?

If this is the intended outcome, and not a bug, then I would suggest greying out the fx in multiclips.

Can anyone confirm this?

This is still a problem in 17.4.5.

If this is the intended behavior, at least grey-out the audio effects on audio tracks in multicam clips.

My own habit and recommendation is to keep audio out of the Multicam. This makes mixing in Fairlight easier.

Thanks for answering, Simon. Will have to do the same.

Still, this is an annoying bug.

Can this be updated please? It makes 0 sense that audio effects get reset in multicam clips.
I know people say to do audio seperately outside of multicam but that is just frustrating to do

It is my understanding that a multicam clip contains only what has been selected when it is constructed. So video files are scaled to the project resolution, all audio selected is included etc if something is muted it is excluded etc. For instance if a video track is muted it is excluded. I now do no effects on the multicam clip until I have finished editing. Then flatten and now everything is back to the original clip parameters. That way I can crop into clip, zoom pan around a UHD video clip in 19209x1080 etc on the original resolution and not the scaled version in the multicam clip. I edit my audio first, save a wav file that I then use with the multicam audio muted for the edit. I keep that audio timeline so that I could go back and make another version if I want.

Hi Skier, thanks for your comment.

I don't understand the idea behind not making it possible to add effects and EQ etc. to the audio of a clip if you can add effects to the video part of the clip (through the colors page i.e.). Also, if this really is the intended behavior, why not just grey out the settings? Why let people fiddle with parameters of an EQ if they it won't be saved?

Multimam is sort of a Compound Clip.

Yep, issues with such are still a thing.

The way it works now is annoyingly illogical. If adjusting a setting in a clip inside a multicam clip won't have any effect, then at least grey it out and don't let people fiddle with it only to discover that it won't do anything. Or, better yet, make the adjusted settings have an effect :)

It's kind of a bug, Anabel. It should work. It just doesn't always.

With the latest release colour changes can be transferred when flattened but nothing else. As I mentioned before I now accept a two stage process. Just do the cuts. Flatten and do everything else. But then you still need to have created your audio track(s) separately. I just use a timeline in the project for audio only. That way I can keep going back and edit this any time I want to create a final audio .

Interesting choice to introduce something this half-baked and not fixing it for years.

I've been able to do color correction on clips inside multicam clips without any flattening. Never encountered a problem there. I only have audio related issues with multicam clips.

Just updated to Resolve 19 and this problem still exists. I'm guessing it's a feature, and not a bug?

Im 100% sure this worked in the past, as its literally part of my workflow since ver18, but on 19.1 it does not work any more. updated to latest 19.1.4 and still doesnt work

Yes that is true but if you needed to flatten to scale into the high resolution files you would loose the grading when you flattened for older releases. This was a change recently to retain grading. I shoot 6K and 4K for delivery in a 1920x180 timeline and always crop/pan/zoom into those higher resolution files. Makes a 3 camera shoot look like many cameras, some with zoom that neither of my cameras have. You need to flatten to do that. Which is why I use remote grades initially to match cameras then move to local grades, flatten and as I go through to fine tune the framing for each shot also grade in a new node. IF you do not zoom into a shot in the multicam you do not need to do this but if you do zoom you will need to flatten to get to the source file resolution. If it is a simple scale it may well work but if you zoom or pan it will not and you will have to flatten. Since I always pan and zoom into the source files I am happy using multiple timelines for each function.
