I do most of my compositing and FX stuff in Fusion 9. VFX-connect is a simple mostly reliable mechanism and although Fu9 does crash several times a day, it's still usable and I'm quite familiar with it now.
I see lots of "horror stories" about Fusion in Resolve and because I'm still using Resolve 15.3 there's just no point in even trying to use the Fusion tab because it should be relabled "crash now'
Obviously things (must have) improved significantly two full versions later though.
Stand-alone Fusion does seem to be far more memory-efficient than Resolve Fusion so for non-trival stuff it would be my first choice, even if ResolveFusion was more reliable.
