Davinci resolve crashing when opening projects

32 GB RAM
Radeon 6800
Ryzen 9 3900xt
Windows 11 (crashes started on 10)

Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling like 10 times, rolling back versions...everything I can think of.

Does it hard crash or just hang and never complete opening the project?

so it either crashes immediately after opening a project or right after I click my mouse on something or add media or hit play

I had lot of crashes when I used 192Khz audio files, this problem disappeared as soon as I switched all my audio files to 96Khz. It's happened the same way, as soon as project opened, or if I right click / hover around timelines.

P.S.: Most important part, that I had 192KHz audio option set in project settings \ Fair light, as soon as I switched it to 96Khz, problem was solved.

We need a proper Resolve log file. If you can open Resolve and start a new project and access the Resolve Help menu, the select the "Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop" menu to create the log.

If you can't do that, then in a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

DaVinci Resolve has been working great, until I upgraded to the newest version. Now it has severe lag, crashes spontaneously and always crashes while rendering. I have spent over a week updating drivers, combing through YouTube for tutorials. I even completely uninstalled and downloaded the version I had previously. Nothing is fixing it. It crashes continuously. I also keep getting a message telling me that my current graphics card (intel) needs drivers updated, but I use Nvidia Graphics - I have both, and both have been updated. Can you point me to a tutorial to fix this? I have an HP Envy laptop with all the gaming capabilities. It's less than 3 years old. Thanks for any help.

I am trying to share my log .ZIP, but I am getting a 413 error. Even trying to post a plain message here, I am getting that same error.

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

Im having the same problem lately on windows 11 with davinci resolve 18.
It either crashes a few seconds after i opend a project or just randomly shuts down after a few minutes of working in a project but my computer keeps running smoothly with everything else in the meantime.


Has anyone come up with a fix yet?

You appear to be doing something that requires more than the 6GB of VRAM that your GTX 1660Ti GPU has.

Can you provide a project export .drp of the "Geierlay Br??cke" project? I expect that's not the exact name, but that's how the German (I assume?) character are being interpreted in the logs.

It appears to be using a UHD timeline resolution, which is not going to leave much VRAM left with 6GB for any heavy OFX or TNR or high resolution stacked media type stuff.
