Unable to archive media pool when exporting

PostFri Feb 25, 2022 9:04 am

Hey there, I am not able to export my timeline or archive my Projekt.
I am using Resolve 17 (non studio) on a Mac.
When ever I try to export a timeline, use the media management I get following window:
Unable to Archive Media Pool
One or more media pools could not be exported successfully and will not be included in the project archive.
Any suggestions?

Enough space on the target disk? Full access rights for Resolve?
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Thank you for the quick response.
For sure enough space (I tried to export a timeline on my PC and it’s a few MB)
Rights is a good question. It’s the Mac from a friend/partner and we try to work together.
Is there a certain place to check the rights on a Mac?

System settings. Giving the right settings to every program is essential on recent Macs, it might be about disk access in your case.

Unable to archive media pool when exporting

PostMon Feb 28, 2022 3:30 pm

Hi Uli, thank you for your suggestion but unfortunately this was not the problem.
Thinking about installing Resolve again. But it’s not possible to backup the project aswell, so we are somehow trapped.
We intend to work on audio together and my colleague started with SFX and foley. Our plan was to export the timeline and merge the audio lines manually on my computer.
So exporting via xml would help, but right now we lose the Audio track structure when trying to do it this way.
We eventually have to render all the tracks and bring them in this way…

Can you export the project only (.drp file)?
I can export a FCP-7 XML with several audio tracks and get them over to Premiere. There are other issues, but that aspect works. What are you using for transfer?

Unable to archive media pool when exporting

Thanks again. Exporting the project does not work aswell - we get the same message trying to do that.
Actually it would habe been the first try using the „new“ Resolve timeline export option (.drt) to establish that as a workflow for the future.
Think that something went wrong during the installation on the Mac. We were at least able to transfer .drp files in the past….
FCXML seem to support a maximum of 16 audio tracks) Tried aac and this seems to work (at least on my PC)

I'd try a fresh install (not without backing up the DB). There must be something screwed up.
I can export DRT, DRP and DRA files without a problem.

I have been having the same issue when trying to Archive some Project Libraries. Windows 11.

The problem seems to appear that if the files are too long they cannot be saved (and / or the sub-folders) so its either Cancel or Abort or Skip. I have used Skip. This creates the correct Media Folder but leaves the Folder empty. It does however create the project.drp Therefore I manually copy and paste the "missing" files into the empty Folder. If I want to bring an old archive back into the PC from an external drive I will need to Re-Link obviously.

The files are large numbers of JPEGs used for multiple reasons outside of Resolve so it is not practical for me to simply rename to shorter versions as they then would not be easily matched elsewhere.

Could yours be a max_path length based issue, Peter?

I can archive a 4.5 hours project just fine, so it's not the project length.

Thanks, I have shortened the folders that precede the actual folders that are within Resolve and that has solved the issue as I suspected (several similar but unsolved questions are in the forum). It had been a similar issue with Dropbox not accepting some of my archive JPEG files but Dropbox now accepts fine.

Its not ideal because I have a large number of individual clients and the more descriptive the various sub-folder names are, the easier life becomes. Dropbox was getting unusable but Google Drive was always OK.
