I hear myself when recording in fairlight.

PostFri Feb 25, 2022 3:04 pm

Hello,

I just bought a Focus right Scarlett 2i2 USB sound card - interface.
When arm my track to record myself I can hear myself over my laptop speakers.

How can I disable that?
I would like to see the levels on the track so I know it is still recording.

Thank you

Fairlight menu > Input Monitor Style
Let's have a return to the glory days, when press releases for new versions included text like "...with over 300 new features and improvements that professional editors and colorists have asked for."

Fairlight menu > Input Monitor Style

In Input mode, only the Input is being monitored, and not the Track output
(i.e. what is currently or what has previously been recorded).

In Auto mode, while the Audio Track is armed the Input is monitored, while on playback the Track output is monitored.

In Record mode, the Input is only monitored when the Record button has been activated.

In Repro mode, the Track output is monitored, and the Input signal is muted.

Its all in the manual Marvin, check Chapter 169, "Recording".

Thank you , so I switched input monitor style and now I don't hear myself over the speakers when recording.

I more think If I may.
When I record into fairlight there is too much echo . It sounds as if I was recording in a large bathroom.
I recorded into other soft and echo is not that much noticeable.
Also when I record directly into zoom recorder I don't hear any echo.

For the "echo" problem I would refer you to the last paragraph on page 13 of the 2i2 user guide.

My issue regarding hearing myself was fixed but sounding like I am recording in a tin can was not.
I can't figure it out. I spent hours trying to figure it out.

I made a post describing the problem here. but so far no help.
I browsed a lot of posts and it seems like a lot of ppl had a similar problem before which was resolved with updates. In my case it didn't help.

my other problem is described here:
