I downloaded the sound library and installed it in the default folder, however, it doesn't show up in DaVinci Resolve. It just says to download it. I even exited and re-opened DaVinci, but nothing. I attached a screenshot to show you what I mean.

Did you install the library in a database?
See page 3149 of the manual.

Is the Fairlight Sound Library listed under the drop-down with “Local Database” currently selected?

If it is available, enter a search term with at least three characters or enter "***" to list all files in the search results section of the Fairlight Sound Effects Library panel.

Not sure what you mean? it installs itself from the installer.

Hello shaylam609,

Apparently, the sound library does not show all of the items. You must search and know at least part of the name of one of the sounds. Search for 'can'. I installed my sound files on my Mac. The sounds, by default added to the same directory as my Resolve installation, which, for me, was in my Movies folder. Search for a folder called Fairlight Sound Library. Where you have the download button, I had something else that allowed me to search for the files. I chose the Fairlight Sound Library folder and chose open. This seemed to perform some indexing but didn't show any results. After looking in the folder and subfolder of Media Files, I saw the files' names and could search for them successfully. To me, it looks like there is a way to have the files in a database as well as just have a folder of the files. There is a subfolder called Database and a file called SoundLib.db. Hopefully this helps.
Brian

Hope you guys update this -- feels very clunky adding sound libraries - local databases don't show up after adding. Even the stock library seems hidden. 500 sounds but you're supposed to guess what they are? Why not show groups of classified sounds? also only 5 fields in Fairlight for audio files? AI sound classification?

figured it out
it asked to put it in DOCUMENTS but failed to explain it was in documents/movies on a MAC
so I found it there, I put it somewhere else, then in DR I clicked "add library" and browsed to the folder and voilà

I had the same issue on macOS, and will share the steps I took.

From the Sound Library pane in the Fairlight tab, I chose "download", which downloads a zip file containing a macOS .dmg file that contains an installation .pkg file "'/Volumes/Fairlight Sound Library/Install Fairlight Sound Library 1.0.pkg'"

Running this installer creates a folder "Fairlight Sound Library" in the default user "Movies" folder (I don't recall seeing anything that said where the sound library would be installed, and assumed is would be somewhere inside my Resolve installation - it isn't!).

I still couldn't see the sound library on the sound library pane, but there was an "add library" button in the middle of the pane, and I navigated to the "Fairlight Sound Library" folder, which I had moved to my preferred location for video sound fx (I use ~/Video/SoundLibraries).

After realizing that you can't see any sound files until you have searched for a sound effect by name or description (or use the "***" wildcard), I was able to see the sound effects. This isn't a great user experience, although it is clearly mentioned in the user manual.

I assume that the sound library is associated with my local database, but curiously I do NOT see any reference to the "Fairlight sound Library" under the "local database" selection in the sound library pane, contrary to expectations. It works though, so I'm not going to worry about it! (Maybe you have to select the database before you navigate to the sound-library folder?)
