Insta 360 : no need for a plugin !

Hello,

I did ask where to find a plugin for Resolve.
https://forums.insta360.com/section/14/post/26296/

As it does not exist yet, here is HOW TO WITHOUT ANY PLUGIN
Rename your insv files to mp4
(as simple as that)

You always get 2 insv files per video : one file per camera
add mp4 renamed files in Resolve Media tab.

Add the KartaVR effect on each video strip, change Roll parameter :
-90° for 1st camera
+90 for second Camera

Finaly, merge your 2 strips into one.

You can use pitch, Yaw ... if you need a flat hd video
You can get a 360 video too : simply inject 360 view for Oculus with the Spatial media Metadat injector tool

Note:
the KartaVr plugin https://andrewhazelden.com/projects/kartavr/docs/

Second note:
You also get the 2 audio chanels !

I'm still inexperienced, could you explain this step to me better?

Hi there,

Am I being thick? lol..
I don't get it...
I'm confused about the "merge the two strips together"... What do you mean?
Like create a compound clip out of the two clips?
Then what do you do?
I can't get the clips to stitch together.....

Would you mind to go step by step please??

Cheers.

But the KartaVR is a plugin, or did I miss something?

I'm stuck on the "merge" part too. Can anyone offer more insight on this, and on what then comes next? Thanks!

@ctdlg-clatique

Could you please show details how to "merge the two strips together"?
Chose a resolution for the timeline where the two camera can fit and position them side by side?

Also KartaVR is a kind of plugin...

Thanks.

Going to echo the "What do you mean by Merge" comments :D

To make matters more difficult, it appears that all the demo material and stitching projects have been deleted from Andrew's web server, and I cannot find them anywhere else... so we're on our own to figure out an understandably complex workflow.

Thanks for any guidance,

My solution is to process video in Insta360 STUDIO then import processed clip in DaVinci to do stuff. I tried to reframe inside Davinci but it was painful.

Can't BM create functionality to automatically stitch/interpret 2 360 lens cameras?

Merge is a node in Fusion.

That's all they were talking about.
