Already used clips got offline

PostSat May 14, 2022 9:37 pm

Hi,
I've been using several clips in a project for about 3 weeks. Today I opened the project again and I noticed some of the clips (not all of them!) have gone offline, some partially, others from start to end. I have absolutely no clue about what happened, but here's what I certainly know:
    - I have not moved/renamed/deleted any clips or their folder
    - Last time I closed the project everything was fine
    - Did not alter DaVinci Resolve in any way
    - Since the last edit I have updated my NVIDIA graphics driver to the latest version (512.77)
    - I have also opened another project in DaVinci Resolve
    - Relinking the clips does not solve the issue

Do you have any idea what happened?

What is the codec of the source clips that can’t be read now?
Free or studio version?
OS?

Sorry for the missing details. I'm using the free version (17.3.1 build 5) on Windows 10 (version 21H2, build 19044.1706).

Additional info: I have updated Windows since the last time I edited the project.

Some of the clips that went offline are from an iPhone (H.265, HEVC video format), others are clips recorded with NVIDIA Shadowplay (H.264, AVC video format).

Reinstalled my driver, but it had no effect. I've even tried the latest studio driver, same issue. Should I reinstall/update DaVinci?

Go to the Media page, and in the upper left Media Storage panel, navigate to the folder containing the missing clips.

Click on one. Does it show in the Viewer?

Does not show, not even for the videos DaVinci itself has rendered... Only the red "media offline" message. The sound has no problem though.

An interesting fact is that while some clips (or a part of them) can be played when I do it from the imported media files window, but not from the Media Storage panel, there they are all offline.

Okay, I've read quite a few things here and there and finally tried to uninstall the latest windows quality update. This solved the issue, everything is fine now! Thank you guys for the help!

I'm actually running into the same issue in MacOS.

Resolve 17.4.6.

Basically on a project I'm working on I'm slowly replacing clips with the ones coming in from the VFX dept. and I'm starting to notice that somewhat randomly the new VFX clips that I already placed in the timeline will be giving me a media missing error.

It's weird, I haven't run into anything like this ever before, and I consider myself a veteran Resolve user so I'm not a noob at this stuff.
