Audio bug when importing clips

PostTue May 17, 2022 10:39 am

Greetings,

I'm having an ongoing issue with Resolve currently. It was present for me in Resolve 17, and now also in the Resolve 18 beta.

Whenever I import a clip into the main timeline, the beginning of the audio is always corrupted, even though that issue doesn't exist outside of Resolve. It happens with any clip I choose. In both template projects, and new clean projects. It typically displays in the timeline as such:

The audio is supposed to start straight away. Oddly, in the preview panel it just glitches for a second or so and then begins to play, even though the visualiser shows no waveform at that point. This audio glitch perserveres however, and is present in the exported file, making it unusable. My only workaround currently is to extract the audio manually from the videofile in a program like Audacity, and then add the wave file in as a separate piece of media. But when you are working on a larger project, this really slows down the workflow.

Does anybody have any idea as to what could be causing this?

Many thanks for your help,
Barry

System spec? viewtopic.php?f=21&t=90190

Which is the source media format?
Use MediaInfo to inspect the source and indicate the source media spec.

What camera was used to record the footage, Barry?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Davinci Resolve Ver 18.0B BUILD 10
Windows 11 Pro Version 22H2 - OS Build: 22621.1

DXDiag File: drive. google.com/file/d/1G0YbpjFPqGTLFqURTWQ5B87v7S3NR1h7/view?usp=sharing

System Information File: drive. google.com/file/d/1GnUnAevkyyTL5wY4vwbxuReiP7PyfjCL/view?usp=sharing

Here are two examples of video files that highlight the issue I'm having above. The first is a video that's been previously rendered and exported in Resolve, and then brought back in to the timeline as a media clip, the second, is a short video file I downloaded from YouTube:

MediaInfo File 1: drive. google.com/file/d/1yO0M25I9JsZjY9A2fdFjX27tUcjr8THT/view?usp=sharing

MediaInfo File 2: drive. google.com/file/d/1lMbKk7H5VOQbgJDFuDI-u9F7nJXMNgU6/view?usp=sharing

The third MediaInfo file is directly taken from my Sony ZV E10 Camera, and this is handled perfectly fine in Resolve, with no issues: drive. google.com/file/d/1FzCtOsk41T2HXAqpFjW13zzld5Q-N3DS/view?usp=sharing

*bump*

Has anybody else ever experienced this issue? I'm so confused by it. Short of a fresh install, I'm really not sure what to do about it. I've provided my system information, along with MediaInfo above.

Many thanks for your assistance.

Never seen this, Barry. If you select the clip in the Timeline or Media Pool and open Metadata what does it say about the video and audio? The fact that your Sony camera files are fine points to the other clips having a problem.

Does transcoding the source media to LPCM rather than using Low Complexity AAC result in correct waveform drawing?

Are waveforms also not drawing correctly on the Fairlight Timeline?

Are you able to provide a link to the sample media containing AAC LC audio? You may send a link via the forum's DM mechanism if you prefer not sending publicly.

There is a bug with MP4 and Windows 11 22H2, Kiki.

Does that apply to you?
