6K BRAW to 6K BRAW trims, but in slow motion?

PostMon May 23, 2022 9:52 pm

Hi everyone- need advice regarding 6k footage, Black Magic raw (BRAW)+ Davinci resolve- I have a client that wants BRAW trims, not renders. They also want the file to already be slowed down (shot at 50 fps for that purpose). In Davinci resolve 17, I changed the clip speed to play at the desired slow motion speed in the timeline and used media management to export the trim- the result was the correct trim but the sped-up version again instead of the slow-motion version. Is there any other way to export BRAW to BRAW at the desired speed?

You may need two steps.
Do the trim (and link to that version) and then change the speed for all clips in the Clip Attributes.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Thanks, Uli- what do you mean by relinking? after i did the trim, I changed the clip speed by right-clicking and going into clip speed. I also deleted the audio track. But when i exported through media management the result was high speed again and with sound. Any way around that?

Do the Media Management first.

As sort of a 20/20 hindsight suggestion, if you had shot the clips in HFR mode, they would natively be in slow motion. No need to change their speed at all.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Is Resolve currently even able to change the fps in braw metadata? Not sure this is an existing feature right now, although braw sdk itself should allow it.

You'll need to deliver it as a .drp prepared for slo-mo if they use DR too.
If not, I'm afraid it means transcoding.
