Davinci Resolve Studio 17.4 - Render failed

PostFri May 27, 2022 1:03 am

Hi,

I have a scenario, where Davinci Resolve just fails with "Render Job 1 failed as current clip could not be processed".

This is:
Davinci Resolve Studio 17.4.6 Build 4
Windows 10.0.19043 Build 19043
PC: Ryzen 9 5950X 16-core 3.4 GHz, 128 GB ram, Nvidia RTX3080ti

Render is Quicktime, H265, GPU encoder (NVIDIA), 7680x4320 8k Ultra HD, 23.976, VBR, Quality resctricted to 48000 Kb/s

The project consists of 4 video tracks:
2 of them H264 High L5.1 23.976 3840x2160
1 of them H265 Main L6.0 23.976 5120x2880
1 of them H265 Main L6.0 23.976 5312x2988
no audio tracks of these videos are used.
The 4 videos are a side-by-side throughout the entire video

Additionally, there is an audio track, that is Linear PCM, 48kHz, Stereo.

Here's the weird one:
This video only fails, when I add titles to it. I'm using the standard "Text" title. 4 of them throughout the entire video.

If I render the video without the titles, it will render with above settings.
If I try to render the video with the titles, it will fail as described above, I can however render it has h264 software/CPU render. It will refuse to render as GPU render in h264 or h265. It will also refuse to render in h265 as software/CPU render.

Any pointers ?

Often, unchecking the last two options under Preferences>User>UI Settings will allow the render to succeed.

BUT...do watch the entire export afterwards as a QC measure.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thanks, but that did not fix the issue.

It says, that it failed because it "Cannon find appropriate codec for encoding the video frame.", which is really odd as the problem disappears, once I remove the titles.

Under Windows with Nvidia GPUs I can often succeed with renders by using a lighter codec (like DNxHR) and doing the GOP encoding later.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Hmm.

I wonder if the alpha of the title is triggering something.
