OFX Crashing DR

PostFri May 27, 2022 2:02 am

Hi.

Whenever I attempt to use Effects in the Color Page - Resolve FX Light (specifically Lens Flare or Light Rays) - the program crashes and closes (bringing up an Error Report window). It does this in any project every time, whether or not the program/computer is restarted. DR stays in the Task Manager (Memory only) indefinitely after crashing. With Light Rays the Inspector will populate before crashing, but not with Lens Flare.

I tried to attach the log zip, but it's too big. I don't know specifics you need to know, so ask and I'll get them.

I just got finished going through a big problem with Support and was told everything checked out. DR is running well otherwise - I think. But this is the second showstopper this month - I've spent more time troubleshooting DR than using it. My brain is melting and I can barely see the screen. Help.

BTW, I can't reproduce your problem, but I'm on a Mac.

i'm no tech expert, but a 2gb graphics card seems under powered to even run resolve?

I'd agree with Leslie. 2GB of Vram is just about enough for basic HD editing. For Fusion you're going to need a lot more horsepower.

Is there a log file that specifies what DR thinks happened when it crashed?

Solved.

Contacted Support and they identified the issue as the GPU driver. There was some quirky incompatibility with the current Dell driver under specific conditions. Tried a couple and finally landed on one that worked. DR runs well now.

Which driver worked, Mike? Others may benefit.
