Sending a project with truncated media footage?

PostFri May 27, 2022 3:12 am

tl;dr I want to send a simple project file to my associate with only a portion of the footage in order to avoid long download times.

Sorry if this is a dumb question as it seems to me it should be simple, but I have recently started collaborating with another editor and don't have much experience. Basically, I have two 3-hour long .mp4s that I was planning to align the audio and video for (hence the reason for the project file), since she isn't confident she can do it herself. I can send the project file no problem, but I only want her to work with a 5-minute section of it, so it's a bit unnecessary for me to send her the entire media folder, especially when it will take around 4 hours of download time. How can I make this happen without having her needing to download 6 hours worth of footage?

Try a trim in Media Management.
But I'm not sure that it works well with separate audio, so check carefully.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

Can you be a bit more specific? I'm not sure what "Media Management" refers to, is that the media tab? My concern is that rerendering anything through Resolve will result in a loss of quality

It seems to be a hidden gem ;-)
