Okay, when using Davinci Resolve 18b3 on an M1 Max MacBook Pro while running within Rosetta 2, applying the Waves Clarity Vx VST audio effect causes horrible audio stutter. It sounds like it's trying to play the samples both before and after the VST processes them. What's weird is I can "fix" it by putting a VST/AU after Clarity Vx. This second effect doesn't even have to change the audio; a metering plugin works.
FAQ:
> Why are you running under Rosetta?
Clarity Vx does not support Apple Silicon yet.
> Does this happen with the AU version?
Yes.
> Are you applying the effect to the clip or the track?
It happens with both, but the "fix" only works if the second effect is placed at the track level, not the clip level.
> Does the stuttering occur if you cache/bounce the effect?
No, only during realtime playback.
> Have you noticed this with other audio effects?
No, I've used other audio effects (from Waves and from others) without this happening.
