Remove ND Colour Tint in Resolve Grading

Hello

I was filming in bright sunshine last week so added an ND filter to the lens which helped with the harsh light.

Downside is the presenters top has changed from blue to purple and I need to fix this!

Can anyone help with any tips and advice on ways to counter the effects of the ND in Resolve Grading?

Are you saying that the color tint was selective or that the entire image has a color shift but that it is most notable on the article of clothing?

I'd suppose that was an ND without infrared filtering. Add a decent IR filter next time.

Curing it may be difficult, depending on the scene you may need a tracked window and a qualifier.

Most of it's fine but the presenter is wearing a blue top which is now purple!

This sounds like IR pollution. Blacks turn redish.

there might be countless ways to fix a purple shirt. magic mask is one of the complicated and render intensive ones.. try hue vs hue curves or qualifier + mask with offset or gamma. the "right" way to correct the image depends on the content of the image.

It's more difficult than that, since only that specific object's color changed through heavy IR reflection (at least we assume that). So, without a qualifier you'd change any similar color which might be already shown correctly.

What if you qualify the shirt as a key, then shift the color manually back to blue using the controls provided in Resolve Color? This is all covered in Chapter 133 of the Resolve 17.4 manual, "Secondary Qualifiers," starting on p. 2891. Note this is an advanced feature and needs some finesse to use.

It's possible just a hue-vs-hue curve could fix it as well, but it depends on the nature of the scene. Hard to prescribe fixes without actually seeing the shot.
