Speed Editor firmware - how to check latest version?

PostSat Aug 06, 2022 10:43 pm

My DaVinci Control Panels Setup app shows that my Speed Editor's firmware is at version 1.4.1 as of 08/06/2022. I'm on Resolve 18.0.1.

Not that I don't trust the setup app but is there a way to check online what is the latest firmware version? I can't find it in the Support Center page.

Version 1.4.1 is the latest.
For checking which version you have, in the Help dropdown menu select DaVinci Control Panels Setup. Then click the button. The software version will be shown and any updates if they are available.

Thanks for the detailed reply and the screenshots. I was able to check the version there. That's how I know I'm on 1.4.1. What I'm trying to figure out is if there's a way to check online, to validate that what the Control Panels Setup shows is indeed the latest.

It's very easy to check the latest version of Resolve, for instance, by going to the Support tab on the website and looking fro the latest downloads on the left column. But Speed Editor updates don't appear there.

I am 100% with you on that and I also think that the Control Panels Setup should show you a message either if you have an update available or if there isn't one when you open it and/or there should be a button that says "Check for Update(s)". I thought there would be an update with 18.1 because of the increased functionality with the edit page but I guess they handled that all with the DR 18.1 update and no firmware update was necessary.

Also, really, it would be nice if you could check for control panel updates in DR itself or that it could let you know when one is available, too, but that you need to open Control Panels Setup to install it.

Mine shows 1.4.1, but no indication of upgrade.
Does this only appear when you're on 18.1? I'm still on 18.0

Peter, is your SE connected via USB? It would need to be to update.

Yes, Charles it is USB connected. It even indicates that on the panel.

I can't remember when the 1.4.2 update became available. It is possible it was introduced with Resolve version 18.01.

Thanks, Charles. I'm reluctant to upgrade to 18.1 yet, given the difficulties others are reporting.

Several projects underway...

It was updated long before 18.1. Charles suggested around 18.0.1 (not 18.1).

Mine shows there's an update available, doesn't show current or the update to be version, and also fails when downloading the new FW (around 10% then fails.)

USB connected.

Sorry for riding on this thread.

Planning to get a speed editor.

Like to know whether there have been changes to the speed editor hardware and if so, how can I know I am getting the latest one?

Understand that there are regular SE firmware updates. Maybe some changes to the internals (eg wheel) to make them more user-friendly?

Thanks.
